Spring Boxes
« on: April 07, 09:01PM »
Here are my recently finished spring boxes.  I have had success with the vast majority of the included trout and rainbow flies in the past, however I added about a dozen new patterns as well as some variations on older ones this year.  I still have a little ways to go on my father's boxes, although he uses far fewer patterns so two boxes will suit him.  Still tying for other friends as well.  Many of these flies will also work for fall run Atlantics as well as steelhead during the latter part of the season.

Large flies in a variety of colours for high, fast, discoloured water as well as estuarine/tidal areas.  I usually carry this one until early May:

Plenty of big and ugly flies here, by far my go to box:

Also included was a box of bugs, most of which are suited for high, yet clear water, or lower water as seen in early May.  You never know in the spring, there was a hatch of tiny blue duns on the Morell last weekend as well as a hatch of large stoneflies Friday on the West River:

Finally a shot of the trio:

Enjoy
Taylor

I don't really believe in secret flies, its all in the presentation and technique.  One day last year my father fished through an area without a hit, then I went through with the same fly and caught five trout between 2 and 4 pounds.  It's happened vice versa as well.
