Gary Fraser’s Silver Jungle Streamer

Materials

Hook: Any Streamer or Salmon Hook ( I used Mustad 3906B size 2 for this demo)

Tail: 4-6 strands of Orange Krystal Flash

Tag:  Small Oval Silver Tinsel

Body: Rear ¾ Flat Silver Tinsel, Front ¼ Orange floss ( I subbed Hot Orange Dubbing,                  but I would say it was the tiers choice , use wool also if you wanted)

Hackle: Grizzly Hen Hackle Palmered over front ¼ of body

Rib: Small Oval Silver Tinsel

Wing: Natural White Polar Bear Hair

Cheeks: Jungle Cock

Head: Fl Orange Thread

Tying Instructions

-   Tie in thread 1/8” back from eye and wind back to the point of hook.
-   Tie in Krystal Flast for tail and attach small oval tinsel for tag
-   5-6 wraps of tinsel for tag, start at barb of hook and keep your wraps tight to each other.
-   Tie in Oval tinsel for rib at the spot where the tag ends and wind your thread to the point ¾ up the body and tie in your flat tinsel.
-   Wind flat tinsel back to tag and back forward to your starting point keeping your body neat and smooth.
-   Tie in Hen Hackle by the tip
-   Make a dubbing loop at tie in point of hackle and twist dubbing
-   Wind dubbing to the spot you started your thread in step one ( if using floss start forward and double wrap as with the flat tinsel)
-   Folding your hackle and stroking it backwards make 3-4 evenly spaced turns palmering it through front ¼ of body
-   Wind oval tinsel rib through the rear ¾ of body with 3 even turns and weave it through the palmered hackle on the front ¼ securing the hackle and creating the rib for the front of the body ( you may have to use a pin or dubbing needle to pull out any trapped hackle)
-   Stroke hackle down and back
-   Stack, measure and secure a small clump of Polar Bear for wing
-   Attach one Jungle Cock eye to each side of wing for the cheeks
-   Form head with a few wraps of thread to cover butt ends of material
-   Apply thinned head cement to secure head
-   Apply 2-3 coats of clear gloss head cement in thin coats allowing time to dry between coats to finish fly

Finished Fly

Look out fish!
A salmon is a moment of beauty known only to those who seek it.

Gotta keep people from using them or there won't be any fish left to catch! Maybe it should be kept in the members only ;D
