Opening Day Flies
« on: March 31, 05:48PM »
I set down late this afternoon and tied up a couple of flies to fish tomorrow morning for the opener:

Bow River Bugger, Muddler Minnow, Rocky Lake Muddler,
                                                        Black Ghost, Mickey Finn

Hey Mr. Burns ....notice the body on the Black Ghost is floss ....I can do floss most times I choose not to

The charm of fly fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

Thanks guys I don't tie many trout flies anymore, used to include them in my commercial stuff but gave it up years ago. Once or twice a year I shake the rust off and tie a couple for me....its 180 degree opposite to tying salmon stuff for me.

On another note I'm going Monday for 2-3 days to fish some Eastern Shore river.....should be fun as I'm going with a couple of Hook & Cookers

Nice work Mike, if there's fish around you'll find one with any of those.
A salmon is a moment of beauty known only to those who seek it.

Sweet looking fleet Mike! You don't need quantity you need quality and those are the cats meow! Good luck on the east shore and don't forget to post some pictures!

No fish by me today Dan but one of the meat mongers that was there landed two 6" on a shad dart....he must like them dry cause after he snapped the necks he propmly layed them in the sun on the bank to "season"

Headed to Fall River early tomorrow morning and then down east for a couple of day trips from Bob's house ... it will be a nice get away
