Salmon
« on: November 04, 11:34AM »
Here is a list of Salmon flies from members which they would not consider fishing without.  We ask each member to make only a post with a pic of their fly and recipe.  This can be used as a quick reference for any new tier or fisherman to maximize their time on the water.

The tay raider sz 4-10  for me has to be one of the top producing flies in my box.  I have hooked a number of great fish with it and  I  tied 15 up for a salmon fly swap a few years ago and had alot of feedback from guys in the swap thanking me for  submitting the pattern as it became a staple fly for many of them as well.

Tay Raider

Hook-     Partridge #6
Thread-  Body 6/0 Oraange
Tail-      Orange and yellow Bucktail and Copper flash
Butt-     Orange Thread laquered
Rib-       Oval Silver
Body-     Rear Gold Holographic Tinsel
             Front Black seal dubbing
Hackle-   Palmered yellow cock
             Folded Orange cock
Wing-     Black Bear

Nice tie!
I had a fish swirl on this pattern a few days before the end of the season. There will be a few in my box next year for sure!!

Shady Lady (aka Black Bug)

My fav by far- Summer or fall. Very versatile fly. This one has been used and abused and is a size 2. Took my last fish of 2011 in high water ( no sink tip required)
