Welcome to our Contests and Giveaways!

I was fortunate enough that I grew up fishing in Nova Scotia and as a child had a few wonderful adults that were more than willing to help me and answer my many questions. We all know that we as Maritimers are well known for helping others. I want to add to that the passion we share for fly fishing as well. We thought if we combined the 2 we could have some very decent contests for fly tiers and anglers as well. We have plans on giveaways for photos sent in promoting Catch and Release (which we support) and fly tying. Some of the prizes will be a case of hand tied flies and for the fly tiers we will be offering such items as hooks and capes. Since we are a work in progress you will have to check back often to this page so not to miss out.

Kids are a major focus for us and are hoping to use this site as a stepping tool to introduce new anglers to fly fishing and fly tying. We will not be held responsible for any addictions endured after trying it.

Ok well I am going to gear up the first Give away. Its January and we are all at our tying benches tying for Spring so why not add something else to it. To enter tie a pattern you would consider your go to fly and mail it in. Pretty simple right? All fly tiers names will be placed in a hat and the prize will be drawn for that way all skill levels will have an equal chance to win. All you have to do is take one fly and mail it in before April 1, 2010 with your name address and contact number. My son is 8 years old and started tying his own flies and all flies entered will go to his fly box at the end of the contest. If your interested in entering contact me below for a mailing address and good luck. This being the first contest I will see if there is any interest before I consider having more more. If there is sufficient interest I may use the flies as donation boxes to Associations and Groups to help raise money needed to help restore and protect rivers and habitat or groups teaching the sport to kids. Prizes for this contest will be a Whiting Pro Grade Hackle and a package of #14 Klinkhamer hooks around a $40 value. Pretty good return for one fly and a stamp.

Have a look around and please drop me a line. As this site is always under construction, please check back often. Any suggestions or comments are welcomed. Email me at . NSFlyfishing.com
